Thank you, Saint Paul DFLers!  I am proud to once again receive the DFL endorsement for the Saint Paul Board of Education!

Since 2000, I’ve been a leader on the Board working relentlessly for top quality education for all our students, responsible education funding, and fair treatment for employees who work with our 42,000 students every school day. Working with the community we’ve made tremendous progress: Better and faster responses to student and family concerns; steady improvements in achievement for all student groups; more transparent and accessible budgeting and site-based decision making; an innovative and energetic new superintendent; and three referenda – thanks, St. Paul! I’ve also taken the lead on several key efforts to equalize employee benefits, structure contracts to provide health care for bus drivers, and improve shared decision making.

 

But we still have a long way to go to close the achievement gap, continue to raise standards, and ensure successful futures for every student. With your help, I’m prepared to continue the hard work to help our students, staff, and the Board live up to your highest expectations. 

 

It’s been a sincere privilege to serve as a citywide School Board representative. I work very hard to always be available to help students, families, and community members who need a champion, answers, or guidance. And you know I’m never afraid to step out and take the risks necessary to explore innovative solutions, ask tough questions, and insist on exceptional answers – because our students are our future, and they all deserve the best.
